Effective ways to 'Make studying fun'
It's your history period and you're very serious and focused, not towards the concept being taught but towards the clock. Gazing at the clock hand going tick-tock..tick-tock..and what a moment of peasure it is when the bell rang! The period is over, you're released from the prison. That tringggggg sound is one of the most melodious song, exception being when it indicates the end of sports period. What if the bell is 5 min late! That's the most terrible situation especially with a boring subject.
Actually, the problem ain't with boring subjects, rather it's with enjoyment. Sounds a bit confusing? See boringness isn't independent, it comes with less interest and enjoyment in a particular task. When you don't see a task as fun to do, you feel bored doing it. But the biggest question of all is, How to make a task, specifically studying fun?
Here, I'm giving you some tips, that worked on me making my study hours more fun and enjoyable and might work for you as well.
1. Change your perspective
The first thing you need to do is change your perspective towards the subjects or topics ou find boring. If you can't classify them as interesting then let them be neutral- but don't let them fall under the category of boring. If you already see something as boring then your brain would surely not be able to focus on it thus you won't be as clear about the concepts. For example I find History like very tedious. So I finally sat down one day and started unvealing the positive side of the subject. In this way you can find you interest in the topic and voila!
2. Music is the remedy
Isn't it like really ridiculous when you have innumberable assignments and those too, impractical like just copying down the exercises from pdf to paper. There is no point to develop interest in that work but the best you could do is make doing the task fun. See I'm not a person who supports multi-tasking but when it comes to such work, then maybe I've a tip. Just play some music in the background. I won't prefer lyrical one but something like lofi beats. You can sit down and create your own study playlist or can find a ready-made one. If you don't wanna listen to music, then just play a movie or web series and do your homework alongwith. You won't even realize when you got it completed.
3. Preffective notes
Preffective means pretty and effective. Along with being effective and neat, if you add little bit of colors or visuals to your notes, then you'll automatically enjoy studying them. Our visual memory is stronger than the usual one so including diagrams or mind maps into your notes, apart from enhancing the 'looks', it also make your notes more easily understandable and effective.
p.s. If you want me to share my notes (CBSE Class 7), do comment down below. I'll think about it.
4. Study in intervals
The length of the study sessio is totally up to you. It can be a 50-10-50-10 sequence or whatever. The point is 'Having regular breaks is important'. It saves you from getting stressed and yes it also improves your focus. Pomodoro or Flomodoro- Both of them are good techniques and you can adopt any of them.
5. Stay hydrated and energised
Health is the top priority. Make sure you are hydrated and eat nutritious food. It will fuel your brainand increase your concentration. Do yoga and meditation, involve in physical activities. Pro tip- Don't use social media in study breaks, rather consider having some fresh air or do something refreshing.
